Sam Bulmer

redcurve design

I have been enthusiastically redesigning houses since I was a child, and professionally since 2005. After first gaining valuable project management experience working in marketing communications, I was lucky enough to be able to convert a passion into a career, training at Chelsea College, London University of the Arts before going on to set up Redcurve Design. In addition to my professional work, since moving to the beautiful New Forest in 2013 I have had the chance to develop a great local trade network, as well as honing my own practical skills renovating Marlpool House, our architecturally eclectic and structurally challenging home, which you may notice among the featured projects.

"the spaces we live in have a huge impact on how we feel, behave & interact with those who share them with us"

If you are considering using Redcurve Design, it probably means that you like the style of previous work that I have done - and that's important. Even more important however is that, if you work with me, your home will be meticulously designed to meet your individual needs, to bring out the best in your property and above all to reflect the personalities and lifestyle of those who live there.

HOW IT WORKS

I reconfigure layouts to get the best out of your existing space, design extensions, remodel property exteriors and create new interiors & gardens. I undertake all aspects of the work from initial concept through the design, planning and tender processes to the final finishes, ensuring a consistent and integrated design approach. I am experienced with both historic & modern buildings and have good relationships with the New Forest District Council & New Forest National Park Authority planning departments.

Projects begin with a free no-obligation meeting to discuss your requirements, after which I will come back with a proposal for how I can help you and a clear step by step quotation. If you decide to proceed, the design process starts with getting to know you & your property and agreeing a brief that combines practical considerations with your aspirations for the work. I then go on to look at the high level space planning, including any proposed extensions, and to develop a visual look & feel that will act as a reference point throughout the entire project. This is followed by design development & CAD drawings, submission of the planning application if required, then further detailed design work and the technical drawings & building specification required for accurate quotations & construction. I can also source and supply fixtures, furniture, soft furnishings & finishes, or provide guidance if you would prefer to do this yourself. For local work I am able to attend site during building works to ensure that the design is being realised accurately and am happy to make trade recommendations or to work with your own contractors.
