MARLPOOL COACH HOUSE
The coach house at Marlpool had fallen into disrepair, becoming unusable and even in danger of collapse. As the building is of local historic interest and in both a conservation area and the green belt we had to carefully balance the structural and renovation work required to bring the building into modern usage with tight planning restrictions. Original features were painstakingly restored and a large portion of the bowed front wall was taken down, hand-cleaned and reinstated brick by brick. A Douglas Fir and clay tile bike shed in a traditional design has been added to the sensitively restored exterior. In contrast we have created a thoroughly modern interior incorporating a garage, gym and recreation room with a largely monochrome colour scheme designed to show off the architectural lines and coloured lighting.
